My son came home and said ‘I designed a dragon and next week I get to hold it.’ He’d modeled it on screen and they 3D-printed it for the next session. He couldn’t stop talking about it. He’s done two camps now and keeps asking when the next one starts.
I was nervous because she’s on the younger side, but they let kids choose their own challenge level — Green, Orange, or Purple. She started Green and moved herself to Orange by day three. No one pushed her. She just wanted to try harder. I’ve never seen that at any other program.
What surprised me is the sketching. Before they touch a computer, they draw their ideas in a notebook. My daughter used to rush through everything — now she plans first. Now she does it with everything — even her homework.
The instructor told me they don’t give kids the answer — they ask questions until the kids figure it out. My 10-year-old was frustrated for about 20 minutes, then he solved it himself and wouldn’t stop talking about it at dinner.
We tried three different afterschool programs before this one. The difference is my son actually builds things — robots, 3D prints, engineering projects. He brings stuff home every week. He actually wants to go, which says a lot.
